2009 MASS INTENTIONS

Dear Parishioners,

I will begin taking Mass Intentions for the Year 2009 on Wednesday, October 1st.
The custom of having a priest designate his intention at a Mass for a particular intention is centuries old in the Roman Catholic Church. Your intention may be for a deceased person or persons, good health, in thanksgiving for graces received, special intention, etc. The traditional understanding was, of course, that when a Mass is celebrated those who participate at the liturgy are the primary recipients of the benefits of the Mass, for each Mass is for the whole congregation, not just a few.

The following are our guidelines:
1.) We have a limited amount of masses, so we accept intentions from our St. John Parishioners first.  Parishioners are able to book three masses for 2009. One may be for the 9:00 AM or 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday. The other two may be the 8:30 AM weekday morning Mass.

2.) The 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday is for the Intention of the SJN Parish Family. However, this mass is available for those celebrating a Wedding Anniversary such as the 10th, 15th, 25th, 50th, etc.
Please call me if you need further information on this.

3.) We do not have mass on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Please keep this in mind when you are looking at dates for your mass.

4.) Masses are booked based on availability. If the day you request is not available I usually book the next available weekday mass, or in the case of a Sunday Mass, I look at the Sunday before or after the requested date.

You may book your Masses by writing the intention and dates and placing them in an envelope with the stipend of $10 per mass, to my attention. This envelope may be dropped in the collection basket, dropped off or mailed to the rectory office at 3785 Independence Road, Cleveland, OH 44105. You may also book masses in person or by phone beginning Wednesday, October 1st, from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Masses written on a note are usually entered first. That is the best way to book masses.

Every attempt is made to make sure you are able to have your requested mass. However, sometime during the course of the year Father Jasany has meetings or workshops he needs to attend, or an emergency arises and we need to reschedule. I will always contact you if this happens.

If you have any questions concerning Masses for 2009, please call me at the rectory office weekdays from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM at 216-641-8444

Thank you,
