What is the Altar and Rosary Society?
The purpose of our organization includes three main objectives: Spiritual, Service, and Social.
Spiritually, the society provides necessities for the altar, sanctuary and sacristy which includes but is not exclusive to wine, hosts, and candles. In addition, the society meets to pray the rosary at the funeral home when a member is deceased, and we honor the deceased with a candle honor guard at the funeral Mass. We have an annual one day retreat, meet at Mass for the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and pray the rosary during adoration of the most Blessed Sacrament after the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday.
Service is incorporated when the Society holds periodic fund raisers to raise the funds necessary for the altar essentials it provides as well as donations to support other St. John Nepomucene activities.
Socially, the society meets four (4) times annually at 11:30 am after the 10:00 Sunday Mass. These meetings are held in March, June, September and December. Dates and times will appear in the Sunday Bulletin, online on our parish website and on facebook. Meetings will include a small lunch and the December meeting will host the annual Christmas Party. Birthdays, get well messages and encouragement, and sympathy cards are sent to members as needed.
